at Portland’s Culinary Workshop

As part of the Northwest China Council’s 2015 program on “Food in China,” the China Council is teaming up with Susana Holloway of Portland’s Culinary Workshop to offer hands on classes followed with a dinner that we have all cooked! All ingredients and equipment are included.

Attendees sit at worktables and prepare the ingredients. Instructors show every step and then attendees, working in pairs, prepare the dishes. Then comes the feast. It is great fun and perfect for a Sunday activity with the family.

The classes will meet quarterly on Sunday afternoons from 3-6 PM at Portland’s Culinary Workshop, 807 N Russell St. Portland 97227. Cost of each session is $65 a person for China Council members and $85 for non-members.

Registration is limited to 24 participants per class, so sign up soon. Here is the line-up:

Sunday, October 11, 2015: Sichuan and Western Regions:
Garlic chive cakes
Spiced pork and mung bean noodles
Long Beans with shredded bamboo in chili oil
Fried wonton stuffed with sweetened Asian pear

Sunday, January 10, 2016: Guangzhou and Southern Regions:
Stir-fried minced duck in lettuce cups
Chilled chicken and egg noodle salad with a tangy peanut dressing
Congee with Pork, herbs and egg
Coconut and lemon pudding
