James Fallows, Postcards from Tomorrow Square

Shanghai view

a free public lecture

Former U.S. News & World Report editor and veteran journalist James Fallows moved to Shanghai in 2006 to write about the complexity of China's explosive growth and new culture. The Atlantic Monthly essays that chronicle his experiences are now published together in the book, Postcards from Tomorrow Square. As he explores China's economic boom and its impact for both the U.S. and the world, he also looks at the human stories in China's bumpy transition to democracy.
